SHOW TERM – IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Please read the following information carefully as it contains important details about our Show Term, performances, tickets, costumes and attendance.

PERFORMANCE VENUE

All performances will take place at:

The Lamproom Theatre, Barnsley

Please check the show schedule carefully. Your child’s performance dates are listed under their school name.

HOW MANY SHOWS WILL MY CHILD PERFORM IN?

MAIN STAGES
Main Stages students will perform in TWO shows and must attend both performances.

We have two performances due to the size of our Main Stages groups and to help accommodate the number of family and friends wishing to watch the children perform.

FURTHER STAGES
Further Stages students will perform in ONE show.

Please check the schedule carefully to ensure you know which performance(s) your child is involved in.

TICKETS

Tickets will be going on sale soon and will be available to purchase via our website ONLY.

Please note:

• Everyone attending the theatre must have a ticket, including children (not performers).

• Tickets are not restricted and will be sold on a first come, first served basis.

• Once a performance is sold out, we are unable to issue any additional tickets.

• Tickets are non-refundable, so please ensure you are certain of your requirements before purchasing.

We will share further information as soon as tickets are available to purchase.

COSTUMES

Please note that all costumes are included within your fees.

No additional funds are required for costumes.

There will be no separate costume charge for the production.

More information about costumes will be released throughout the term. As part of the preparation process, we will be collecting students' sizes so that we can ensure costumes are appropriately allocated.

Please keep an eye out for further costume information as rehearsals progress.

SHOW TERM RUNS OVER TWO TERMS

This is particularly important to understand.

Our Show Term runs across TWO school terms:

September – December
Rehearsals begin in September and continue throughout the Autumn Term.

January – April
Rehearsals then continue throughout the Spring Term, with the production taking place end of Feb early March. The final weeks of term will then be skills focused and packed with fun workshops. 

Your child is therefore working towards the production across both terms, rather than this being a one-term project.

WHAT IF MY CHILD CANNOT ATTEND THE PERFORMANCE?

If your child is unable to attend their allocated show date(s), please let our team know as soon as possible.

It is extremely important that we know in advance so that we can plan the rehearsals and casting accordingly.

Your child can still attend Show Term and take part in rehearsals even if they cannot perform in the final show.

In this situation, your child will be allocated the role of a SWING during rehearsals.

What is a Swing?

A Swing is an important role within theatre. Students will be given roles to learn and rehearse and will be able to step into those roles when another student is absent from class or unable to perform.

This means your child’s time will still be used fully and purposefully throughout the rehearsal process.

Being a Swing is a fantastic theatrical skill to develop and is a very important role within professional and touring theatre, where performers need to be prepared to step into different roles at short notice.

So, please be assured that if your child cannot attend the final performance, they will still have an important and valuable part to play throughout the rehearsal process.

However, it is HIGHLY important that we know in advance if your child will not be available for the performance.

SHOW SCHEDULE

Please check the Show Schedule in the Google Drive carefully to make sure you are fully aware of when your child is required for the production and which performance(s) they are called for.

The schedule will show the relevant dates for each school and group, so please make sure you check this carefully and keep the dates somewhere safe.

Further details regarding show times, call times and arrival arrangements will be issued throughout the term as we get further into the rehearsal and production process.

Please do not rely solely on the performance time — call times may be earlier to allow students time to arrive, get changed, prepare and take part in the production.

We will provide all of the necessary information as we progress through the term, so please keep an eye on our usual communication channels for updates.

CHAPERONES – WE NEED YOUR HELP!

As we are performing in a professional theatre, we will need a larger team of helpers backstage to help move students safely around the theatre, get them to the correct places and support them as they prepare for and take part in the show.

We would love to hear from any parents, family members or friends who may be able to volunteer and support us during our two-week run of shows.

WHO CAN VOLUNTEER?

All volunteers must:

• Be over 16 years old

• Be willing to complete the required Chaperone Licence process

• Be happy to undergo a DBS check, which we will arrange for you if required

You do not need to have previous theatre experience — we will provide the information and guidance you need to support the students.
